The 2013 employer health benefits survey was released last week and offered that employer-sponsored family medical coverage rose slightly from the previous year, but at a much higher rate than increase in wages or our inflation rate in the United States. The survey conducted by Kaiser ‘s non-profit organization, The Kaiser Foundation/Health Research & Educational Trust, reported an increase in family coverage that went up by 4 percent from the previous year to an average of nearly $17,000 per year, while most employees contributions to those premiums on average were at about $5,000 per year. Compare that to wages that rose 1.8% and the rate of inflation was up just over 1%. This survey noted that nearly 80% of employees this year will pay an annual deductible, up 6% from the previous year.
